In the 2019 - 2022 TDLEG Internationalization at Home 2.0 project, CLEAR will continue to promote teachers’ understanding of what IaH and enabling strategies entail, enhancing the impact of IaH by involving more teachers in the journey of internationalizing curriculum and disseminating the good IaH practices in teaching and learning in the context of CUHK through co-developing discipline-specific courses by embedding international elements, innovative teaching methods, creative teaching and learning activities, and enhancing students’ engagement in the curriculum design. Afterall, internationalizing learning outcomes, pedagogy and assessment are all at the heart of IaH (Beelen & Jones 2015).
This blog post entitled 'Internationalization at Home in Action' written by Ms Angel Fan is to explain the project initiatives by CLEAR in the 2016-19 and 2019-22 trienniums to support faculties and the teaching staff to implement internationalization of curriculum (IoC) in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. This blog entry also introduces an upcoming grant scheme for IoC (2019-22) and a respective proposal writing workshop (8 June 2020) to help support academics in the process of application.

Workshop Abstract:
To encourage front-line participation and development of good examples on internationalisation of the curriculum (IoC), a Grant Scheme for Internationalization of Curriculum has been set up to support worthwhile initiatives to develop collaborative courses with non-local partners; and/or activities that facilitate IoC. Successful application will receive a maximum of HK$100,000 funding.
The online workshop was held on 8 June 2020 (Monday) 3:00pm HKT. In the workshop, Professor Cecilia Chun, Director of CLEAR, introduced and explained the Grant Scheme for Internationalization of Curriculum 2019-22 triennium and gave participants writing tips and points to note for the proposal. Professor Angela Daly, Associate Professor of Strathclyde University, also shared her experience on collaborating with CLEAR in internationalizing a law course in 2019. Ms Angel Fan gave a brief account of the background of internationalization in education and in the context of Hong Kong and also at CUHK.

Internationalization of Curriculum(IoC) has been widely advocated in higher education locally and globally. CLEAR has been supporting teachers in their IoC development. We are pleased to invite Dr Tanja Reiffenrath from the University of Göttingen and share the Göttingen Model in IoC. She will also discuss the challenges during process and some initiatives to address them. From the Göttingen Model to CUHK Model, Prof Thomas Chiu and Dr Kenneth Li will articulate their internationalized curricular initiatives with their funded projects. The holistic view of its implementation across the globe and our similarities or dissimilarities in understanding IoC, challenges, and tackling will be showcased.
Two groups of teachers showed us how they design their co-curricular teaching and learning activities with internationalized elements. Their students had the chance to collaborate with international students with prescribed sets of tasks and were challenged by the diversities of ideas and values.
